Lacules Estate Merlot
100% Merlot
From ungrafted vines over 40 years old, growing on a plateau of Terra Rossa soil surrounded by olive, fig, and pear trees. This vineyard consistently yields our purest expression of Merlot.
Aged in 70% new and 30% used barriques (French, American, Austrian oak)
“Deep ruby with purple reflections at the core. A delicate, subtly sweet nose with red currant, elderberry, fruit tea, a hint of herbs, and light golden raisins. On the palate: dense and textured, with a firm backbone and muscular tannins. Not yet softened in extract—best with some aging or a bold dish. Not to be compared to a Bordeaux – only in terms of quality.
18/20 – wait.” (René Gabriel 2023)
Lacules Estate Grenache
100% Grenache
Grenache has been grown in the hot, dry climate of Messinia for decades. We discovered one of these old vineyards—a humble plot at 385m elevation, at the foot of Mount Profitis Ilias.
The vines are ungrafted, dry-farmed, and trained as bush vines—like tiny fruit trees. As devoted Grenache lovers, we wanted to explore its full potential, leading to our first single-varietal Lacules Estate Grenache in 2021.
Aged in used barriques.
“Bright ruby. Elegant nose of sour cherry and red currant, with floral notes that open up gradually. On the palate: textured, long, with lively acidity and fine structure. Still young—likely to reach its prime in 3 years. An exciting Grenache…17/20 – wait.” (René Gabriel, 2023)
Lacules Estate Syrah
100% Syrah
From three small vineyards in very distinct locations—one near the mountains, one in rolling hills, and one just 26 steps from the sea, rooted in stony, barren soil. This is our most limited release, with excellent aging potential. It reveals its full character after at least 6 years in the bottle.
Aged in 50% new French oak.
“Very dark red with violet reflections and a dense core. A deep, brooding nose of dark berries, fresh plums, cassis, blackberry, with smoky hints and licorice. On the palate: dense, fleshy, and concentrated, with rich extract and a persistent finish. Shows charm in its early moments, but finishes with structure and grip that demand patience.
The finest red to date from this small but ambitious winery.
19/20 – wait.” (René Gabriel, 2023)
The Chord
The “little brother” of our estate wines—a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Crafted using the same principles as our Lacules Estate range, The Chord is more approachable in its youth: fresher, brighter—yet still concentrated and full of character.
“Medium garnet-ruby with a delicate rim. Juicy red fruit on the nose—red plums, subtle sweetness, cedar wood. On the palate: red-berry driven, with a hint of grenadine in the extract and a crisp, lightly structured finish. A youthful wine and a versatile food companion—not just for Greek cuisine. 16/20 – drink.” (René Gabriel, 2023)
